Kale's
Adventures

All my weeks of planning were finally coming together. I proceeded into the garden letting the sweet smell of incense consume me. It was intoxicating. I knew what I was doing although I think I may have not been too smart about it.
I knew already, from her confession that she had more than a passing interest in Kyros and so I pretended to be him. It was no small effort to get his clothing, but it was nothing short of an amazing feat that she read the note and actually waited for me in the small garden at midnight.
She saw me arrive and thanks to a hood I was able to conceal my face. I instructed her to turn around and placed a blindfold on her eyes. It was then I realized how much she trusted Kyros. She was not nervous at all.
The next two hours, were bittersweet. Sweet in ways I can hardly explain. Bitter because, I know this will never happen again. But in the throes of passion, that hardly matters. The only thing you can think about is the here and now of physical pleasure.
What will happen now is unclear, but I have fulfilled my own longing.

What a wonderful few days it has been. I have secured more than enough women to cook and clean. (Women stay behind the walls and do not serve men in public.) Some were given to me as a gift by Kale and others I have agreed to pay a small wage to. In return, I have rebuilt a very nice servant quarters where up to 30 of them can sleep and live. There is a separate wing for women.
I did an old friend a favor and took his daughter in to clean. She will scrub and see to it that the bathhouse is in perfect condition for my customers. I felt bad for my old friend...his daughter has shamed his family and her husband put her aside. It is a dishonor. It is unlikely that any citizen will want her now. But perhaps her life as a slave will not be that bad, I am not unkind, just very strict.
Astrea was wonderful! My eyes were pleased in ways I never thought possible. Her training was so expensive, but I now understand why. Watching the way she played the room was a treat. And the men who ultimately shared her last night lavished us gifts and coins.
Kyros however is worrying me. I don't know what he is thinking but I need to keep reminding him that she is a business investment not a toy for him.

Here in Greece lives moves at lightening pace. I was offered the business venture of lifetime a few weeks ago, and I have decided to take the man up on the offer. Here is what he proposed:
He was an old man and tired of living in the crowded city. He wanted a small plot of land and some slaves to run it for him. In exchange for finding and securing said property, I was given a restaurant and small bathhouse where my patrons can dine and relax while they feed me lots of money. The business is very well off but it is a major headache to run. There are literaly a thousand details a day to see to so I can understand why the old man was ready to give it up.
Kyros is all too eager to be my partner in this venture and his sideline business with the young priestess looks as if it will pay off well. For now, he has given me his word that what she earns will come to me until the debt is paid and she will live here for the time being.
Kyros himself spends time both with his parents and royal kin and here with me and the charming fast learning Astrea.
I now must find women to serve here in the restaurant making meals and such. I think I have some good leads, I hope they turn out well. While I don't mind Kyros and his business venture using the place, I don't want to run a bothel, or have to deal with the headaches of one either!

The gods have made me a fortunate and rich man. I have not really questioned my fate, I have just accepted my good fortune and moved on. But I am now wondering if my plan to take the priestess from the temple is a good idea.
If I anger Aphrodite and she turns her back on me... it may be very bad. So when I wrote the letter and had it delivered, I felt a twinge of guilt. If all goes as planned it could make me and my new partner very rich, but if it doesn't work... I don't want to think about that.
I will wait until the girl is with us to decide what to do. As for Kyros... I have found a man worthy of my respect as a business man. He is ruthless and will do whatever it takes to make coins flow.

My name is Kale. I sell things from all over, however I am called a wine merchant. I am not Athenian or even Greek. I am from a land over the sea. However, I have made my home in Athens now as it brings a lot of wealth in my door.
I live in a modest villa, but I have several places to stay all over this country. I am friends with many people and while I am not a citizen of Athens, I am invited to many Symposiums. I am not married, but it would be nice to be, I suppose.
However there are always ways in Athens to find women ... Still that is secondary to my business concerns right now.
